KDCC’s Hudę Njú Kú Gallery
We’re excited to kick off the year with our first exhibit, My Big Bougie Beaded Earrings, opening March 10th, 2025, and running through mid-May. This community-driven exhibit celebrates the bold, beautiful, and bougiest earring creations by First Nations artisans. Whether you’re a longtime jewelry lover or just looking for some inspiration, this exhibit will definitely leave an impression! We’ll also have a KDCC retail pop-up shop in the gallery space, so if something catches your eye, you’ll have the chance to take a piece of the art home with you. This will be my first time curating a show, and I’m thrilled with how everything’s shaping up so far with the setup and submissions!
Next, we’re gearing up for a solo exhibit by our very own Kwanlin Dün First Nation artist, Eila Vallevand, in June. This will be Eila’s first solo show, and we couldn’t be more excited to feature a KDFN artist here at our cultural centre. The exhibit, Swan Woman and the Commodification of Her Featherless Skin, will open June 6th, 2025. It will feature six paintings, one fabric sculpture, a video, installation art specifically created for the space, and accompanying poetry. Eila will be sharing the modern stories of Swan Woman, a Tagish Kwan legend, using a mix of mediums to explore her emotions and experiences. We’re honored to hold space for her as an emerging artist.
