Shakaat Artist Residency Program

An annual Artist-in-Residence program at the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre

2020 Applications Now Open

The Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre is proud to host a paid, community based artists-in-residence program, during the summer season, that will encourage, support and showcase Indigenous art.

Artists will set up their virtual studio for a three-week period and demonstrate their art form. These requirements will be adapted to our new reality and will be done in compliance with Government of Yukon’s COVID-19’s safety measures. Demonstrations can include Facebook live videos, photos, interviews, etc.

During their time as a resident, the artist will also deliver a workshop that is open to the public and participate in an artist talk.  Both of these activities are able to be completely virtually and will follow safety protocols.

Funding for this project is made possible through the assistance of Arts Fund, Department of Tourism and Culture, Jeanie Dendys, Minister.
